Source 1 Comparative Rhetorical Analysis

Section 1:

Section 2:
            Serwer’s argument is centered in recognizing the price that Kaepernick pays in order to voice his protest and his opinions.
            He utilizes historical writers like W.E.B DuBois, other NFL players, and chooses his examples from well recognized sites.
            The point Serwer is trying to make is that in order for Kaepernick to make a politically charged protest, his entire personal life, professional life, and upbringing is going to be heavily scrutinized and criticized. He also comes to the conclusion that race is the driving factor with which people use to criticize Colin’s choice.

Section 3:
            Audience: Educated population,
-       Utilizes historical references and more intelligent language than typical online writers
Purpose: To educated readers on the issue and to show the extent of the racial
criticism of Kaepernick’s decision.
Platform: Online article

Serwer achieves his purpose by utilizing logos and ethos.
